About this event

Mushroom Foraging Field Trip

Join an experienced forager in search of fascinating fungi and wild edibles! We’ll explore the coastal woods together, learning about fungi and the habitats they live in: what grows where, what to look for, and how to tell one mushroom from another. We’ll keep our eyes out for edibles like chanterelles and boletes, and practice foraging with care and respect for the woods. Families with kids are welcome!

Length: About 3.5 hours, including a hike of up to 2 miles

Meeting spot: We’ll meet at a trailhead with plenty of parking, within one hour of Forest Grove . The exact location will be shared two days before the field trip.

What to expect: This hike includes exploring off-trail, which means uneven ground, slopes, and moving through plants. It may not be a good fit for guests with limited mobility, or for kids who can’t comfortably walk up to 2 miles. Please dress for the adventure! A packing list will be sent to confirmed guests. We’ll go rain or shine, but will cancel or reschedule for extreme weather or high winds.

To reserve your spot: Spots are limited. To confirm, send payment via Venmo to WildRoots-Collective with the subject “foraging hike". Suggested donation: Adults $25-40, children $5-10. Nobody is turned away for lack of funds.

Cancellation policy: Full refund if you cancel 3 or more days before the trip. If you cancel within 24-48 hours of the hike, you are welcome to transfer your spot to a friend. Cancelling within 24 hours will result in no refund or transfer. If we cancel due to weather, you’ll receive a full refund.
